Send

hand/machine embroidery on fabric, compound sound.

During Soviet Union, people could go to the prisons with no real reason, sometimes they were placed under the ‘no communication rule’, what meant that they will never contact with families. However, lot’s of the prisoners found completely different ways to communicate, one of them is embroidery on tissue what they placed in the clothes they could give to the families.

During this time the letters they made were small, so in the project ‘SEND” the idea is to bring the power of embroidered letters, which reflects the society of those decades, makes them visible.

The situation During URSSR is now back in power, which means it was important to explore the nature of the mass control and prisons during one of the hardest time.
